Three-Year Degree Course in Science
The Three-Year Degree course leading to the award of Bachelor’s Degree in Science shall be spread over a period of three academic years. There shall be two Semester Examinations in the interval of six months in each year and total six semesters in three years. Further, there shall be Internal Assessment Examination to be held in each theory paper for 20% of total marks as prescribed in the tables, in each semester.
A B. Sc. (Hons.) student shall choose one Honours subject carrying 800 marks, one pass subject carrying 400 marks, one minor elective carrying 100 marks, one major elective of 200 marks and compulsory subjects carrying 300 marks.
A student with Botany / Zoology as Honours shall take ‘Mathematics and Statistics’ as minor elective and a student with Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Computer Science as Honours shall take Biology as minor elective.
A student shall choose one of the following subjects as major elective: The papers and title of the papers are as follows: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Botany, Zoology, provided that a student with any one of the subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Botany, Zoology as Honours or Pass shall not be allowed to offer corresponding subject as major elective. Elective subjects shall not carry any practical component.
A student shall be allowed to offer any one of the following language subjects as M. I. L.:
Oriya, Hindi, Alternate English and Urdu.
The student shall choose any two subjects from any one of the following groups as Pass and Honours subjects:
Group A: Botany, Zoology, Chemistry (only pass)
Group B: Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Computer Science (only Hons.), Statistics (only Pass).
