PHYSICAL EDUCATION

 

Indoor games

a)      Provision for playing Table Tennis is available in each hostel. Each hostel gets Table Tennis Bat and Balls as per requirement. Intra-hostel and Inter-hostel Table Tennis Tournaments are also arranged annually.

b)      Carrom Boards are also available for each hostel.

c)       Students are allowed to play indoor games from 4 pm till the start of the evening prayer. Again, after dinner they are allowed to play games for 45 minutes. However on holidays they get some more time during daytime.

Outdoor games

a)      Football is one of the most popular outdoor game in this College. The College organizes Annual Football Tournament amongst the students where apart from the Team emerging as Champion, the Best Player in the Tournament and the Highest Scorer are also awarded prizes. The College also organizes Swami Tejasananda Memorial Football Match between the outgoing students and the rest. In this match also, the Best Player Award is given.

b)      Cricket, being a high profile game in the country, is also being played in this institution with full enthusiasm. The College organizes Annual Cricket Tournament amongst the students where apart from the Champion Team, Best Player in the Tournament and Best Player in the Final Match are also awarded. The College also organizes Swami Tejasananda Memorial Cricket Match between the outgoing students and the rest. In this match also, the Best Player Award is given.

c)       Being an institution where a considerable number of students are from the rural background, Volleyball is extremely popular here. Students crowd in the Volleyball grounds everyday afternoon. The College organizes Annual Volleyball Tournament amongst the students where apart from the Winners, the Best Player in the Tournament and Best Player in the Final Match are also awarded. The College also organizes Swami Tejasananda Memorial Volleyball Match between the outgoing students and the rest. In this match also, the Best Player Award is given.

d)      Annual Athletic Meet is organized by the College. Here the main events for the students are: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 Mtr races, High Jump, Long Jump, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, Shot Put, Tug-of-War and Go-as-you-like.

Teachers and non-teaching staff also enthusiastically take part in this Meet in the events like: Kicking the Football, Musical Chair.

e)      The College, if asked, organizes West Bengal Colleges Football Tournament and Athletics Meet Howrah District.

f)       There is a Teacher for looking after the performance of the interested players and monitoring them. When the College goes for any competition/championship some occasional coaching/training is also given.

g)      A Yoga teacher also attends the students during afternoon twice a week.

h)      A one-day Yoga presentation has also been organized to make it popular among the students.  

Self Defense Training Programmes

No such training programme has been imparted.

SPORTS FACILITIES

 

Playgrounds available

(i) 40 nos. of hurdles, (ii) High jump of right, (iii) Pole vault, vaulting box and pole, (iv) Victory stand, (v) Volleyball, (vi) Football, (vii) Basketball, (viii) Mat for cricket (66 ft x 8 ft), (ix) Cricket bats and kits, (x) Discus, (xi) Hammer, (xii) Short put, (xiii) Javelin         etc.

The college has all the necessary infrastructure and equipment to promote sports and games activities.  There is an association called athletic association of the college. Two student representatives are elected every year as secretary and assistant secretary of the association. A group of teachers (senior most teacher known as the vice president) are also in-charge of athletics who give due weightage for promoting the sports and athletic activities. Coaches from different discipline of sports and games from district sports organisation are invited to the college who provide necessary coaching to student athletes to excel in athletic meet, sports, etc., at college level, inter college / University / State / National level. Besides outdoor games, the college has the facilities for indoor games.

 (c) A physical education teacher (PET) has been appointed by the college to guide and motivate the students for games and sports.

(d) A 15 station multi-gym f has been set up in the campus.

A health centre has been set up in the college and made operational in 2004 with the funds available from Rajya Sabha M.P. Sri Manmohan

 

Samal. For the present a medical officer has been deployed by the CDMO, Bhadrak. Steps are taken to post one paramedical employee to

 

assist the doctor.

 

The health centre is carrying out intermittent medical check up.

 

A general insurance scheme called as students' safety insurance scheme is in operation.

 

The Youth Red Cross wing of the college provides financial support to the students particularly to those coming from financially disadvantaged

 

group with a view to facilitating their treatment.

  The college has the following infrastructure facilities for sports and physical education.
   
1 - A playground for football, hockey, Volleyball and cricket.
2 - Indoor badminton court
3 - Teni-koit double court
4 - Cemented basketball court with boards
5 - Kabadi playground
6 - Field area -120 mtr. X 90 mtr. Pavilion room
7 - Sports pandal
8 - A separate Boys' common room and Girls' common room equipped with indoor games like carom, table tennis, chess etc.
